Inspired by tree root systems as symbol for chosen family (an alternative to family tree branches that follow only bloodlines). Root systems are assymetrical, sometimes unseen and support the growth of the tree. Buena Vista Park is San Francisco’s oldest public park and holds special meaning for many.

Monterey Cyprus tree roots 3D scanned and rendered in petrified wood.

24" x 62” Acrylic Print

Tree 3D scanned at Buena Vista Park, San Francisco 2024.

Lisa Niedermeyer is a Bay Area artist who always keep her 3D scanner in her giant pockets. She comes up with ’speculative sculpture' by scanning people and objects and imagining them in unexpected materials.
